IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University beach volleyball team improved to 6-0 last week and hope to continue their momentum into Saturday. The Eagles competed against Cal State LA and Pepperdine and finished going 1-1 on the day.
The Eagles dominated in the morning against CSULA beating them in all flights in just two sets. CUI held their opponents to 16 points in three of the six slots that were played. Slots two and four shut the Golden Eagles down not allowing to earn more than 11 and 12 points.
The Eagle were challenged in the later match against No. 14 Pepperdine. Flight one with Phair and Bernzen went the distance taking the Waves to three sets. The duo lost the first set 17-21 and bounced back to win the next two to earn the one win for the Eagles against the ranked team. Flight five won the first set by a close 21-19 but the Waves finished the next two defeating the Eagles. Pepperdine finished the match with a 4-1 victory winning the next four matches.

The Eagles will be back in the sand at the Great Park on Wednesday, Mar. 5 as they take on Hope International and Vanguard with slated times of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
