Golden Eagles Fly Past Hawks In Sweep

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team finished their three game road stint Sunday against Holy Names. The Golden Eagles flew past the Hawks with a sweep in three straight sets with scores 25-16, 25-21, and 25-21.  This victory moves CUI to 3-0 in the PacWest conference.
 
Cassie Prior led the Golden Eagles with 13 kills with only one error and a hitting percentage of .462. Prior was also big up at the net defensively with two blocks and one being solo. Middle blockers continue to be a show stopper as Halli Hooks recorded five blocks and one solo and Jalyssa Sanchez added two up at the net. This match has marked the fourth consecutive game for freshman Hooks to put up four blocks or more.
 
Outside hitter Kennedy Farley finished the match with 10 kills and put up two blocks and five digs. Kirra Schulz threw down eight kills while still showing off her skills in the back row with 15 digs alongside Daniela Poles contributing 17 digs and seven kills.
 
Libero Julia Wilson marks her eighth game of the season with over 10 digs she scooped up 11 throughout the match against the Hawks. Three different setters saw the court today as Michelle Feliciano led the offense with 17 assists, Devin Sivertson was right behind with nine, and Kawehi Chang dished out six.
 
The Golden Eagles will host Point Loma on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. as the first home conference game of the season for CUI.
