SAN DIEGO, Calif. - On Wednesday night, the Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team faced off against the Point Loma Nazarene University Seal Lions in a non-conference showdown. The Golden Eagles looked to end the final stretch of their preseason campaign with some momentum.
The opening half set the tone in what proved to be a defensive showdown as both sides combined for only six shots. CUI was able to prevent Point Loma from getting quality chances as none of the Sea Lion's shots were on target.
In the second half, the Sea Lions were able to get on the board first in the 66th minute off a quick counterattack.
Anthony Morales and
Alex Perez kept Point Loma's defense busy as they tried to get an equalizer. Then in the final minute, Point Loma was able to seal the match with another goal.
The game ended in a 2-0 for Point Loma, but it proved to be a hard fought win due to the Golden Eagles allowing only five shots on goal.
The Golden Eagles will return to the pitch this Saturday, Sept. 24th, as they close out their preseason at home against Biola.
