SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Playing in their second playoff game in three days, the Concordia Golden Eagles ran out of time in their efforts to make a comeback in the second round of the NCAA DII West Regional at Point Loma.
The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team outshot the host Sea Lions and also won the possession battle. However, Point Loma scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of action to put Concordia in an early hole. Neither team's defense permitted any scores in the final 75 minutes of play.
The Golden Eagles kept themselves in the match by dominating possession for the majority of the first half. CUI collected two corner kicks before intermission and put three of their first nine shots on goal.
CUI kept pressing to try and force the action in the second half. Multiple scoring chances showed promise, but Point Loma was able to fend off the ferocious attack and hold on for a 2-0 result against the Golden Eagles.
