Golden Eagles Upset Sea Lions in Five Set Sendoff

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Golden Eagles traveled down to Point Loma for the last regular season game. Point Loma officially led the conference with a record of 18-1 before the match. Coming off a heart-felt senior night, Concordia charged into the match and took the Sea Lions by surprise. In a matter of five sets, the Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team beat Point Loma 3-2 on their Senior Night.

CUI came out of the gates swinging. Team energy combined with effective kills from Kirra Schulz, Kennedy Farley, and Alex Parisian launched Concordia's offense. The first set was taken 25-18.

Point Loma shook off the first set and came back to win the second and the third. Concordia pushed the envelope in the third set, even though Point Loma won it 26-24.

Concordia found true momentum in the fourth set and leapt past the Sea Lions. The Golden Eagles fought through long rallies, contributed hard swings, and achieved momentum-shifting blocks against their opponent. Every play was a battle worth watching.

It was point for point until the very last second. With an assist from Kawehi Chang, Halli Hooks scored the game-winning kill to finish the fifth set 15-13.
