IRVINE, Calif. –
Jasmine Rachal racked up 26 points and
Teagan Thurman powered through contact for a double-double to help propel Concordia University Irvine past Chaminade on Wednesday night, 79-62.
The emphatic victory extended the women's basketball team's winning streak to ten games and completed the season sweep of the Silverswords.
The program record for most consecutive wins is 16 which was set during both the
1992-93 and
1996-97 seasons.
After a tight first quarter, the Golden Eagles opened up a double-digit lead and were in the driver's seat from that point forward.
Thurman finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Rachal shot 9-for-16 from the floor which included a ton of three-pointers. The Brea Olinda High School alum went 5-for-6 from downtown
Erika Maggard and sharpshooter
Stephanie Lee combined for 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
Camryn Kiernan was a team-best +30 on the floor and added five points.
The Golden Eagles kept pace with Azusa Pacific atop the PacWest Conference standings. Both teams only have one loss all season in league play.
CUI will host the Cougars in the regular season finale on Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 25 and that game could decide the ultimate conference champion.
Up next, Concordia visits Holy Names on Saturday and then Fresno Pacific on Monday as part of a short road trip up north.
