IRVINE, Calif. – Playing for the second consecutive night at home the Golden Eagles welcomed The Master's on Friday. CUI won the first set of the match but TMU came back to win the next three with final scores 25-19, 21-25, 26-28, and 19-25.
Freshman
Scott Montez earned his second double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs while
Johnny Anselmo finished with nine kills and eight digs. Right side hitter
Uriel Batista led the Green and Gold with 13 kills while digging up seven and putting up 3 block assists with one being solo.
Gil Herold had a dominant performance in the middle with nine kills and three block assists finishing with a .500 hitting percentage.
Maxwell McCullough led CUI with three block assists and two aces throughout the match.
Setter
Nathan Biteau had a season-high of 40 assists and nine digs with four kills. Libero
Jacob Reilly contributed with nine digs while
Makai Lipson came into the match to serve and put down an ace in the fourth.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road as they take on No. 1 Hawaii on Thursday, Feb. 16 and Friday, Feb. 17 with both slated start times at 9 p.m. PST.
