CUI basketball team traveled up north Saturday afternoon to face off against Holy Names University. The trip back home for the Golden Eagles is a little sweeter as they won a thrilling overtime game 86-82. This gives them five wins in PacWest play.
Sophomore guard
Kobe Sanders lit up the scoreboard all day as he dropped a career-high 33 points while going an efficient 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
Redshirt senior
Cameron Fini followed suit posting a career-high 22 points against the Hawks and going 4-for-7 from deep.
Freshman
Jackson Tucker saw what his two teammates were doing and said let me join the party as he also went for a career-high 20 points. Tucker who hasn't looked like a freshman all year, shot 9-for-14 from the field.
Alpha Okoli also pulled down a season-high nine rebounds.
The game was back and forth all day but there was no bigger moment than when sophomore guard
Connor Gleason drove hard in the paint with one minute left and tied the gamer at 69. Once in overtime, the trio of Sanders, Fini, and Tucker took over for the Golden Eagles and sealed the victory.
The Green and Gold are back on the court this Monday Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to Fresno Pacific.Â
