TAVERES, Fla. – After coming out first in pool play on Friday the CUI beach volleyball team took on the No. 1 seed Tampa following another match-up against Saint Leo. The Golden Eagles advanced to the semifinals with another two wins going 4-0 on the tournament.
CUI took control of the games against Tampa as the second flight didn't need to play winning 3-1. Prewitt and Lemoine lost the first set of the match but came back to win the next two for the Golden Eagles. Flight one dominated as only allowed the Spartans 16 points in the second set.
The Golden Eagles took on Saint Leo for the second time of the tournament and made adjustments to win 3-1 over the Lions. The first duo put up a fight in the first set but Phair and Ostojic came out by a close 26-24 win and continued their momentum in the second set only allowing the Lions to earn 14. Slots four and five also won in just two sets while the third slot didn't need to compete.
