IRVINE, Calif. –
Rylie Rohr crushed two homers and
Katlin Entrup pitched a gem to help ninth-ranked Concordia University Irvine beat Holy Names and lock down win number 30 on Monday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles moved to 30-7 overall and 15-3 in PacWest play after the Hawks rallied to win game two in extra innings.
CUI was coming off
two huge wins at No. 19 Cal State San Marcos and also split
an exciting doubleheader against No. 23 Cal State Dominguez Hills this past weekend.
This doubleheader with the Hawks was played during the day as a way to makeup
Game 1: CUI 7, Holy Names 1
Rohr smacked a solo homer to put CUI in front 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
She left no doubt that the Golden Eagles would prevail in the first game of the day with a three-run blast in the fifth to back starting pitcher
Katlin Entrup.
Missy Nemeth added a two-run single in the sixth.
Jocelyn Pino also knocked in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Entrup threw six scoreless innings and only allowed two hits.
Callie Nunes entered for the seventh to get the final three outs and only allowed one unearned run.
The victory marked the 23rd consecutive win over Holy Names in CUI softball history.

Catcher
Shelby Pfeiler placed two of her three hits on the day in the rematch. Her RBI single in the bottom of the sixth plated pinch-runner
Alina Giles to put CUI up 1-0.
Daniella Alvarez pitched a great game and took a shutout into the seventh. The Hawks however rallied to tie the game and force extra innings before ultimately eking out a 2-1 victory.
Concordia continues conference play with two home games this Wednesday against Azusa Pacific beginning at 3 p.m.
