MALIBU, Calif. – After a historic night on Thursday the Concordia University men's volleyball team was looking to do it again on Saturday against No. 8 Pepperdine. The Waves were able to make adjustments and win in just three sets with scores 27-25, 25-18, and 25-22.
Uriel Batista led the Golden Eagles with an impressive 21 kills while hitting a .581 and contributing defensively with five digs and two block assists. Batista put himself in the record book again with 21 kills in just three sets tying alum Raymond Barsemian for second. Outside hitters
Johnny Anselmo and
Gage Doble had a combined of eight kills and digs throughout the match.
Gil Herold had three kills along with one block while
Cole Vigo was back at it with three block assists and adding two kills.
Mason Mullins came into the game and had two effective kills that went untouched by Pepperdine.
Nathan Biteau dished out 34 assists while
Jacob Reilly wore the libero jersey and had four digs.
The Golden Eagles will have their last home stand of the 2023 season on Thursday Apr. 13 against No. 11 USC with a 7 p.m. start time while honoring their seniors. CUI will end their regular season on Saturday Apr. 15 as they finish the series against USC in Los Angeles, Calif. at 7 p.m.
