IRVINE, Calif. – For the first time in his career, Concordia's
Jacob Stuart is your WWPA Offensive Player of the Week!
The Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) honors a top offensive and defensive player every week during the fall season. This is the first time a CUI men's water polo player has captured this weekly award since Marius Jakimcikas back in 2019.
The junior attacker from Yucaipa, Calif. tallied 16 goals in less than 48 hours to help the Golden Eagles go 3-1 at this past week's Inland Empire Classic.
The team captain scored a hat trick in each of Concordia's three victories and handed out three assists as well.
Two of his three goals against Pomona-Pitzer came in the third quarter as CUI turned the tide and ultimately won 13-12 to secure the first win of the year. That victory marked
the first collegiate victory for new CUI head coach Justin Johnson.
Stuart and the entire CUI men's water polo team have three games this week on the docket.
The Golden Eagles visit CBU Thursday evening and then play on Saturday afternoon out in La Verne against George Washington and the host Leopards.
The updated time for the CUI men's water polo home opener is Friday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. against UC San Diego at Woollett Aquatics Center.
