Game Recap: Men's Water Polo | | Channa Hart

A Dime A Dozen; Erickson Scores Double Digits

LOS ANGELES, Calif.- To finish the weekend, Concordia University Irvine men's water polo traveled to Los Angeles for a double header against Occidental College and Ottawa University. Energy from the home opener seemed to follow the Golden Eagles into Saturday's competition.

OCCIDENTAL | 12 p.m.

The Green and the Gold may not have scored the first goal of the day, but CUI made up for it with shot after shot at the Occidental cage. Goals went back and forth for both teams until the third period. Using their momentum, Concordia broke ahead from the Tigers with a score of 11-9 in the beginning of the fourth period. Leo Erickson led the team with five goals and three assists. Jacob Stuart was close behind with four goals and two assists. Keeping the ball alive, Tanner Powell saved not one, but dozen of shots and even had a steal under his belt. CUI won the game with a final score of 14-13.

OTTAWA | 3:30 p.m

Concordia won the second match of the day 17-12. Ottawa made steady progress, but CUI outscored them in every period. Sam Diamond managed three goals and two steals. While, Harry Bentham and Leo Erickson led the team with four goals each (which brings Erickson's total goals for the weekend to 12).

The Golden Eagles are just getting started. The next game for Concordia men's water polo is Wednesday, Oct. 4 against Biola.
