IRVINE, Calif - On a beautiful evening on Thursday, Sept 7, at 6:30 PM, the CUI men's soccer team hosted the visiting team of Western Washington University. This would be the second home game of the season for the Golden Eagles. 

To begin the first half, the Golden Eagles had great ball movement with sharp, crisp passes towards one another, attempting to weave in and out of the opposing teams defense. The Vikings defense was tough to break through for the Golden Eagles, they shot six times, with only one of them being shot on goal. 

On the defensive side of the ball, goalkeeper Andre Flores held his own by making some incredible plays to prevent the Vikings from scoring. Despite being able to make some of those incredible plays, the Golden Eagles saw themselves down 2-0 at the end of the first half. 

With the start of the second half, the Golden Eagles had some work to do and chip away at the score. The offense became more aggressive, and senior defender Tyler Oakson saw the opening opportunity he needed to score the first goal of the season for the Golden Eagles. This brought the score to be 3-1 as the 50th minute of the game approached. 

After the goal by Oakson, more opportunities presented themselves for the Golden Eagles, who managed to get 17 shots off during the entirety of the game but couldn't capitalize any further. At the end of the game the Golden Eagles eventually fell to the visiting Vikings with the same score as the 50th minute mark.
