IRVINE, Calif. – In the first meeting between Concordia University Irvine and Westmont as PacWest Conference foes, the host Golden Eagles dominated the proceedings with an impressive defensive effort.
Concordia jumped out to a commanding 16-4 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Stephanie Lee nailed two treys and
Camryn Kiernan also fired a triple to help the Golden Eagles gain control of the game.
The Golden Eagles were so good defensively that Westmont only managed to score eight points in the entire first half of action.
After only playing five minutes in the previous game due to injury,
Savannah Felix-Amoroso returned and made an immediate impact in the paint. The senior from Rosary Academy scored 12 points before halftime and finished with a new career-high 20 points along with five rebounds. Her previous career-high was 19 points against Point Loma earlier this season. She finished a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

Izzy Navarro handed out six assists and forward
Teagan Thurman collected a game-high nine rebounds. First-year guard
Hannah Vela added five points and two assists while
Erika Maggard broke out her eraser and was credited with three blocks.
Lee dropped in 11 points and Kiernan finished with 10 points to put three Golden Eagles in double figures by the time the final buzzer sounded.
The Golden Eagles are back home again next Saturday, Jan. 20 against Fresno Pacific during Hall of Fame Induction weekend. The women play at 2 p.m. and the men's game will follow at 4:30 p.m.
CUI Athletics will introduce the Kenneth A. Walker Hall of Fame Class of 2024 in a ceremony at 11 a.m. before the basketball doubleheader.
