IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team closed out the 2024 season playing against Vanguard in the CU Arena while honoring the seniors before the match. The Golden Eagles were able to take the Lions to four sets with scores 23-25, 19-25, 25-20, and 20-25.
Seniors
Kennedy Farley and
Kawehi Chang were honored before the match and put it all out on the court one last time. Farley led CUI with a career-high of 22 kills topping her previous 21 against Cal State Dominguez Hills earlier this season while scooping up an impressive 18 digs from the back row. Chang ran the offense and had 43 assists and 12 digs and has reached double-double figures 18 times this season.
Kayden Croy had her 17
th consecutive double digit kill night with 16 and tied her career-high of 17 digs that she reached at Vanguard Nov. 7.
Caitlin Jarrell had seven kills and two solo blocks out of the middle.
Delaney Risse was all over the court digging up 12 while serving up two aces that the Lions could not returned.
Vanguard took the first two sets with a couple late runs to extend their lead over Concordia but the Golden Eagles retaliated in the third. Chang went on a serving run and had help offensively with Farley and Croy to win the set and force a fourth. The Green and Gold took the lead in the fourth but Vanguard slowly trickled back in the set and win the set and match.
The Golden Eagles finish the 2024 season with a 16-12 overall and 11-9 PacWest record. CUI went the distance in seven PacWest matches taking them to five sets.
