IRVINE, Calif. – Ranked nationally in the Top 15 for the seventh straight week, the Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team added another conference award to its impressive resume.
CUI emerged as the PacWest Women's Soccer Team of the Week for the third time this semester. The Golden Eagles are also perched at No. 10 in
the new United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll among all NCAA DII women's soccer teams.
Additionally, on Wednesday, the
first NCAA DII regional rankings came out and Concordia is listed No. 2 in the West Region right behind Cal Poly Pomona. Concordia is actually the first of four PacWest programs in the Top 5 of the West Region, followed closely by defending national champion Point Loma, Hawaii Hilo and Azusa Pacific, who are also all nationally-ranked this week.
CUI notched a pair of road victories this past week to gain those accolades. A healthy 4-1 triumph over Dominican saw four different players find the back of the net.
Then on Saturday,
Hailey Havican scored twice in the road win over Jessup. That included a penalty kick she converted for the game-winning goal. Senior
Sophia Munoz later connected with Havican on a beautiful cross, which led to the insurance goal.
The junior from Cypress, Calif. finished the week with three scores in those two matches. Havican leads the Golden Eagles with nine goals, four assists and 22 points.

Riley Urquiza helped CUI secure its ninth shutout of the year.
Concordia visits Vanguard this Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 2:00 p.m. following the men's game at 11:00 a.m. It is an "All-At-Vanguard" Day as the CUI women's volleyball team is also playing the Lions in Costa Mesa later that evening at 7 p.m. for an unorthodox tripleheader.
Senior Night for the CUI women's soccer team is also this Saturday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. against Hawai'i Pacific following the men's game against the Sharks. The CUI men will also honor their seniors in a pregame ceremony.
