IRVINE, Calif. - On Thursday afternoon's action, the men's tennis team hosted Grand Valley State University (GVSU) from Allendale, Michigan for the first time in program history.
In very competitive games, the Golden Eagles had three matches that went to the third set for singles. Although only one of those matches went CUI's way, the Golden Eagles were in every set-point.
The day ended with one of the most impressive matches coming from Mattis, Le Montagner. The first set was dropped by Mattis but the second set came and he came back with all his might. Winning the second set 7-5 it was all dependent on the third and final set to determine the match. Mattis and the GVS player were neck-and-neck all the way until the final point of the match.
It was a great competitive match but ultimately GVS won the match and the game beating CUI 6-1.
