Northridge, Calif.- The CUI beach volleyball team went head-to-head with the Golden Eagles of LA for the second time this season, proving which county holds the title of the Golden Eagle. CUI had another perfect day going 2-0 against CSUN and CSULA with scores 4-1 and 5-0.
 
In the match against CSUN, three pairs went to three for the victory. Flights one, three, and four were all close sets with Kali Uhl and Kelissa Lemoine taking the last set 15-11, Kora Nordin and True McCullough completely dominating the third set with a score 15-6, and Eva Prewitt and Ashleigh Souza taking the third with a score of 15-10. Flight two, Sarah Ostojic and Tatum Smith, had a close two set match with scores 21-19 and 21-18.
 
Flight five, Jordyn Nichols and Lexi Godbey fell just short in their match against the Matadores. The green and gold had close score throughout the entirety of the match with the final scores being 24-26, 21-19, and 15-10. Pair Makena Houston and Nicole Miller played in the exhibition match but ultimately the match was abandoned with an even score against the two opponents 21-18 and 21-19.
 
In the matches against the opposing Golden Eagles of LA, your Green and Gold went through perfect 2 set matches all around, not letting LA take one off. Pairing two, Sarah Ostojic and Tatum Smith, dominated against LA, not giving their opponent the chance to reach to double digits through the whole first set (21-3, 21-18). Flight five and the exhibition pair, Keila Guista and Jordyn Nichols, Olivia Highstreet and Emma Hugeback, also overtook their matches against the Golden Eagles, taking the victory with dominant scores of 21-10 and 21-9 (pair five) and 21-7 and 21-6 (exhibition).
 
The sandy birds of CUI are now 8-4 overall and are looking for another victory against the Golden Eagles of LA on March 15 at 10:00 A.M. on home turf in Irvine, Calif. CLICK HERE for the full schedule.
