Golden Eagles Sweep The Mustangs

IRVINE, Calif. - The Golden Eagles faced off on Friday against the visitors from Western New Mexico University, the home of the mustangs.

To begin Friday's competition, the first team that was competing against each other were the women's team going head-to-head in doubles. Coming into the competition, CUI had previously won the last three out of four games.

This match was no different because "Our focus and discipline has been good," said junior Alicia Da Re. "But also the team coming together when it's needed." The Golden Eagles effort culminated in another win together ast they swept the Mustangs 7-0 on the women's side.

After the first games had wrapped up, the men's squad took to the courts. Following the footsteps of the women's team, the men's team was just as eager for their games.

The entire team never lost a single set to the Mustangs. Eventually, the Golden Eagles finished in control with a final score of 7-0 to finish the sweep of both teams.

:Both teams have competed exceptionally well," said CUI head coach Ellie Johnson. "We are getting more and more confident playing simple and smart tennis and the results are continuing to come as we stay focused on the process. We are focusing on recovery with so many matches so we can continue to perform the way we want to."
