IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI men's volleyball team took on Saint Xavier Illinois Friday for their second contest against each other. The Cougars won in four sets with scores 25-16, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-21.
Outside hitter
Gage Doble led the Golden Eagles with 12 kills while scooping up six digs from the back row.
Christian Galoppo contributed with eight kills and three block assists with four digs.
Makua Marumoto had four kills and served up two aces.
Johnny Anselmo came into the match and had two kills and passed the tough serves coming from the opposing team at ease.
Middles
Maxwell McCullough went 7-for-11 while hitting an impressive .545 while having four block assists and four digs from the left back.
Clement Osahon Jr. also was a key factor as he had six kills and four blocks while leading CUI with three aces.
Yotam Briger handed out 28 assists while
Nathan Biteau added four.
Jacob Reilly was in the libero position and dug up 11.
The Golden Eagles will take on Harvard on Wednesday Mar. 8 with a 5 p.m. start time in the CU Arena before resuming MPSF play.
