TAVARES, FLORIDA – The CUI beach volleyball team have another dominant day as they swept two more opponents. They finished pool play against Tusculum University and then won in the Challenge round against Carson-Newman University to move on in the Champions bracket.
 
Game 1: CUI 3, Tusculum Univ. 0
 
The Golden Eagles picked up right where they left off yesterday and took control of the match and went undefeated in pool play.
 
Ostojic and Smith came onto the sand for the first time in the tournament and took care of business as they beat the Pioneers in two and made some adjustments in the second set to hold TU to only 10 points.
 
The other two duos had no problem closing out the match to secure first in pool play and to play No. 9 seed Carson-Newman University.

Game 2: CUI 3, Carson-Newman Univ. 0
 
CUI made it into the Challenge round to play against Carson-Newman University to decide whether they play in the Champions or Silver bracket. These match-ups were a little more challenging for the Green and Gold but still managed to battle through and sweep the Eagles.
 
Leomoine and Uhl were in the No. 1 slot where the second set came a little closer in score but CUI was able to close out the set and match. Ostojic and Smith took command in the first set holding CNU to just seven points but the Eagles made some changes to make it much closer in the second where CUI won by just two points.
 
The fifth slot was another battle as Miller and Souza won in just two sets with their opponents scoring 19 in each set. CUI was able to finish the match and sweep their fourth team in the tournament.

The Golden Eagles will continue in the Champions bracket as they take on Saint Leo in the semifinals Sunday Apr. 14 at 7:30 AM PST.
