Dixon Smacks FIfth Homer In Series Win Over FPU

 
FRESNO, Calif. – The Golden Eagles finished their series against Fresno Pacific on Saturday and came out with a series win going 3-1 against FPU. CUI has improved to 14-14 overall and 20-19 in PacWest play putting them in fourth in conference.
 
Game 1: CUI 6, FPU 7 (10 Innings)
 
Six different Golden Eagles collected one hit during the game and Luke Glascoe led CUI with two hits and three runs. Vito Fowler was able to score Glascoe to make their mark on the scoreboard in the second frame while Isaiah Walz scored on a wild pitch in the third to tie the game at 2-2. Micheal Mira had a two RBI double to bring home Haku Dudoit and Glascoe and bring CUI to a close 4-3 lead in the fourth.
 
Wyatt Madison smacked a two-run home run to right center to mark his first home run of the season off in the eighth to get a comfortable three run lead over the Sunbirds. FPU answered back in the bottom of the ninth to score three runs and tie the game at six a-piece and force extra innings. The Sunbirds were able to score first in the 10th inning on a wild pitch.
 
Senior Riley O'Sullivan was dominant on the mound and went 8.2 innings and allowed nine hits and five runs while striking out a season high of eight batters. Conor Meehan and Richie Kingsborough came in as relievers to finish the game.
 
Game 2: CUI 6, FPU 4 (7 Innings)
 
Fresno Pacific jumped out to a 4-1 lead over the Golden Eagles after a three run homer. David Baruch III went 3-for-5 on the day and contributed with an RBI single to right field to cut the deficit in half with a 2-4 score. Michael Dixon put up four RBI throughout the game as he reached on an error, hit a two RBI homer to center field, and closed out the seventh with an RBI single to right field. Dixon knocks his fifth home run of the season tying with Shane Wallace on the season.
 
Brett Finnel pitched his first complete game of the season and after giving up four runs in the first he as lights out allowing six hits and striking out a whopping 11.
 
Conference play is coming to a close and will finish with a four game series against Westmont at the Golden Eagles field starting Friday Apr. 26 at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The last PacWest doubleheader will be on Saturday Apr. 27 where CUI will honor their seniors before first pitch at 1 p.m.
