AZUSA, Calif. - In a 3:00 P.M. game Thursday afternoon vs Azusa Pacific University (APU), the Golden Eagles put together their best comeback win of the season thus far!
Riley O'Sullivan was the starting pitcher for CUI and had two great innings to open up the game. Entering the top of the 3rd, it was a 0-0. APU broke the offensive gates and scored four runs in the 3rd inning.
The Golden Eagles answered right back the same inning in the bottom of the third with single base hits from
Isaiah Walz and
Shane Wallace to set up a moon shot to right field for David Baruch with a three-run home run, but the Golden Eagles weren't done yet.
Haku Dudoit doubled down the right field line, tying the game, followed by
Wyatt Madison singling to right field for CUI, scoring five runs to take the lead 5-4.
Riley O'Sullivan settled down and pitched two more great innings, allowing
Josh Pugh to come into the game and pitch a phenomenal three-and-a-quarter innings, which only allowed a single HR from APU.
Huge insurance runs from the Golden Eagles came from
Vito Fowler in the bottom of the 5th with a two-run RBI single to center field, as well as
Luke Glascoe with the same hit up the middle, scoring one more and making it an 8-5 game final score. This is the Golden Eagles first appearance in the PacWest finals.
