IRVINE, Calif. – On the heels of their fourth straight shutout victory, the Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team moved up to No. 12 in the national rankings and was also named the PacWest Conference Team of the Week.
CUI was originally ranked No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and moved up to No. 19 last week.

The Golden Eagles dominated San Francisco State 2-0 last Thursday before fending off a talented Cal Poly Humboldt squad. The Green and Gold have now outscored the opposition 4-0 through their first four matches.
Hailey Havican leads CUI with four goals already through four contests. The junior forward scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in each of those key victories against CCAA opponents. Ashley Grubert also net a beautiful insurance goal to cement the win over the Gators.
Riley Urquiza made a season-high six saves against the Lumberjacks, including two key stops when the visitors tried to convert in the top right corner of the goal.
No. 12 CUI visits Cal State San Marcos for one last non-conference tune-up on Wednesday, Sept 25 at 3 p.m. The Cougars are receiving votes in the national poll.
The Golden Eagles then will play at Menlo College in the first match between the schools since Menlo joined the NCAA DII ranks and became a new member of the PacWest Conference. That match is set for a Saturday 2 p.m. start time following the men's conference opener at 11 a.m.
CUI returns home for its rivalry doubleheader with Biola on Thursday, October 3. The men play at 4 p.m. in Irvine followed by the ladies at 6:30 p.m. under the lights.
