ATHERTON, Calif. - Opening up in PacWest conference play, the Golden Eagles headed to newcomer Menlo College.

Kicking off the first half, the Golden Eagles started their attack immediately, making runs and shots on goal within the first 10 minutes of play. Being aggressive from the start resulted in a CUI goal by Ryan Smith, assisted by Rafael Espinoza. The rest of the half was a bit of a stalemate, but ultimately, the Golden Eagles were still on top 1-0.

Coming back from the half, the Golden Eagles took some opportunities from some runs they had built up, but with no result. The Oaks tied the game up from a goal just before the 50th minute and the Golden Eagles knew they were in for a battle. About 25 minutes of the game was played when the Oaks drew a PK from inside the box. Coming in the 84th minute, the Oaks scored off of the PK and won the competition 2-1.
