Jarrell Earns Sixth Double-Digit Kill Match Against The Vulcans

HILO, HAWAI'I – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball started their Hawai'i trip against UHH Friday. The Vulcans came out with a sweep over CUI with scores 25-17, 25-20, and a close 25-27.
 
Caitlin Jarrell was unstoppable at the net as she led the team with 11 kills and had the most attempts at 23 while hitting an impressive .348 out of the middle. This marks the sixth match where the senior has reached double-digit in kills. Jarrell had the lone solo block for the Green and Gold.
 
Outside hitters Sofia Ajmal and Emma Wegleitner had eight and four kills respectively while scooping up a combined eight digs from the back row. Kayden Croy and Ally Scheidle contributed with five and three kills.
 
Grace Carollo and Macy Scheer both led the offense for the Golden Eagles. Carollo dished out 20 assists and Scheer right behind at 16. Scheer served up a team-high of three aces on the night and had an impressive nine digs from right back. Halen Kiefer and Avery Banaag had seven digs each and Kendyll Winn picked up six.
 
The Vulcans won the first two sets but CUI still came out fighting in the third. Back-to-back kills from Scheidle late in the set put the Golden Eagles ahead by just one. A service error and hitting error from UHH helped CUI but the Vulcans bounced back with two kills to close out the match.
 
The Golden Eagles will conclude island play at Hawai'i Pacific Sunday Oct. 26 with a 6 p.m. PT/3 p.m. HT start time.
