IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team is in the final stretch of their season, and showed up tonight against APU, winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-21). There were standout performances from several key players.
Sofia Ajmal led the way at the net with 11 kills, hitting a .400, attacking efficiently, and finding ways to score against a tough Cougar block. Caitlin Jarrell continued her strong play in the middle, recording 10 kills while hitting .529, and providing steady offensive production throughout all three sets. Ally Scheidle added another well-rounded effort, finishing with 6 kills on a .500 hitting percentage while also contributing two service aces that helped shift momentum in key stretches.
The smooth execution of the offense was made possible by the steady hands of setters Macey Scheer and Grace Carollo. Scheer led the team with 20 assists, while Carollo added 19 assists. Their strong connection with CUI's hitters helped the team post an impressive .333 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Golden Eagles showed tremendous poise and discipline. Emma Wegleitner and Ally Scheidle anchored the back court with eight digs each. Avery Banaag also added six, helping keep APU at a .221 hitting percentage.
UP NEXT: The Green and Gold will be away at Vanguard on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Senior Night will be held on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. against Biola in the final PacWest match-up of the season.
