IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's tennis team improved to 3-0 on Friday with a sweep of Hope International, while the women's squad followed suit with an identical 4-0 win to move to 2-1 on the young season.

The CUI men played first after a delayed start as all the teams played to clinch (First to 4 points on the day to secure a win).Â
Returners
Spencer Cinco and
Adam Kartzinel took care of the opposition with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. This came shortly after
Max Mueller and
Felix Veyhle won at the No. 1 spot.
Max Renz, Kartzinel and Keyon Cahvarehchi all handled their business in their singles matches to clinch the CUI victory.
In the ladies match, CUI earned the doubles point pretty quickly.

Sophie Rachor won 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and
Cheyenne Houkes and
Kristyna Dvorakova did the same at No. 2 doubles.
Dvoakova and Houkes found continued success at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots respectively, winning in two sets. Houkes took care of business by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 count.
Pia Starnecker wrapped up the victory for the Golden Eagles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.Â
The ladies will host Cal State LA on Wednesday, Feb. 12 before heading to Cal Tech with the men's team on Saturday, Feb. 15
After topping Riverside City College in Saturday's exhibition, the CUI men will head to Claremont to battle Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Valentine's Day next Friday.
