PHOENIX, Calif. – The CUI men's volleyball team is about half way through their season and just reaching their second conference play series against No. 15 Grand Canyon Friday. This is the first MPSF game on the road for the Golden Eagles and the Lopes won in three sets 25-23, 25-13, and 25-19.
Right side hitter
Connor Dell led CUI with 12 kills and seven digs. This tops his career high where he reached 11 kills earlier this season.
Ties Cornelissen and
Christian Galoppo played in two of the sets and had a combined six kills.
Gage Doble also made his way onto the court and had three kills with an ace and a solo block.
David Mansilla made his debut on the court and finished the match with a kill and a block assist.
John Rzepniewski started in the middle and had served up an ace and had a block at the net.
Clement Osahon Jr. helped CUI going 6-for-10 with no errors while hitting an impressive .600. His performance at the net was also noticed defensively with one solo block and four block assists to help shut down the GCU offense.
Makai Lipson ran the offense and had 22 assists and topped off an ace from the end line. Libero
Cruse Ae'a scooped up six digs in the back.
The Golden Eagles will have a rubber match against Grand Canyon Saturday Mar. 15 with a 6 p.m. start time.
