FULLERTON, Calif. - The Concordia women's water polo team headed down to the shimmering pools in Fullerton and split the day against Macalester and Cal State Fullerton. The Golden Eagles brought a beat-down to the Macalester Scots, but fell short in the battle against the Titans.
It was a morning full of hat tricks for the Golden Eagles! Hannah Edwards, Allyson Corbett, and Emeline Smiley collected three goals each throughout the course of the match. By the third period, multiple players had blazed past the Scots and added points to Concordia's ever-growing score. This incredible squad consisted of Anna Tyukasz, Sofia Dominguez, Sierrah Ferguson, Presley Acosta, Kimorah Wong, and Lucy Aggs.
Concordia held Macalester to three goals for the entire match, a feat made possible by sophomore goalie Jaden Soto. Concordia's starting goalie tallied eleven saves, two assists and a steal, while also delivering a shut-out in the second period. Grace Noyes slipped into the goalie cap for three minutes and brought great energy to the Golden Eagles defensive line.
The game concluded the way it started, with the Green and the Gold capturing the lead. Concordia defeated Macalester 15-3.
Against the Fullerton Titans, the Golden Eagles met some resistance. Despite an initial 1-2 standoff in the first period, Fullerton crept ahead of Concordia shortly thereafter. The lead would prove difficult for the Green and the Gold to beat.
Anna Tyukasz secured the fourth hat trick of the day. Hannah Edwards and Sierrah Ferguson were close behind with two goals of their own and were notable in the comeback made within the fourth period.
Goalie Jaden Soto outdid herself in the second match by collecting eleven more saves and three steals. Despite the combined efforts of every Golden Eagle, the Titans kept up their rhythm and sealed the victory. Ultimately, the Golden Eagles fell to the Titans, 13-8.
