COSTA MESA, Calif. – The CUI men's volleyball team head down the freeway as they continue their series against Vanguard on the road Thursday. After coming off a hot three set sweep the Golden Eagles were looking to continue that momentum on the road and did just that winning in four sets with scores 25-19, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-20.
 
The Golden Eagles and Lions offense were evenly matched up but CUI had less hitting errors that helped their hitting percentage at a team to be just below an impressive .400.
 
Gage Doble was unstoppable in the front row as he had 17 kills along with a hitting percentage of .548. This marks his third consecutive game reaching double digit in kills and all against Vanguard. Ties Cornelissen had his first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 11 digs from the back row.
 
Connor Dell was right behind Cornelissen and added another 11 kills for the Green and Gold. Christian Galoppo came into the game to play in two of the sets and made an immediate impact with four kills on six swings.
 
Middles Cole Wachter and Nathan Habermas were both effective as they recorded four and three kills. Wachter had four block assists with Habermas adding two defensively.
 
Cruse Ae'a wore the libero jersey and scooped up eight digs from the back row and Colin Marks ran the offense with 31 assists. Marks dug up six and also had the lone solo block for CUI throughout the match. Six different Golden Eagles served up at least one ace with Doble and Marks tallying two each.
 
The Golden Eagles and Vanguard series will come to an end with the last match up Saturday March 29 with a 7 p.m. start time in Costa Mesa, Calif.
