NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Concordia University beach volleyball team had an exciting day picking up a win against Northridge before dropping their second match against Santa Clara with a swapped score and moving to an overall 5-5 record.
  
 
CUI 3, CSUN 2
 
Four of the five pairs went the distance with the host team Cal State Northridge pulling out an impressive 3-2 win. CSUN picked up the first point for the Matadors from the fourth slot. Korah Nordin and Ashley Rossi earned the first point for CUI. The duo lost the first set but answered back to win the next two sets in the No. 2 slot. The Matadors earned another point in the fifth slot but the Kelissa Lemoine and Sara Ostojic tied it back up at two a-piece and this No. 1 pair was the only match up to be won in just two sets.
 
The last point would come down to the final pair that was playing in the third slot with Kelia Giusta and Gabrielle Reinking. The Golden Eagles lost the second set by just two points which pushed the match to go a third set. CUI secured the win with a 16-14 final score.

CUI 2, Santa Clara 3
 
Slots two and four earned the first two points for Santa Clara that both went to three set matches between the two teams. CUI duos No. 1 and No. 5 picked up solid wins for the Golden Eagles in just two sets. Giusta and Reinking were in for another tough match as they won the first set by two points but the Broncos came back to win the next two sets.

The Golden Eagles will play three games Saturday Mar. 8 in Bakersfield, Calif. starting with Hope International at 10 a.m. followed by The Master's at 2 p.m. They will conclude play against the home team Cal State Bakersfield at 4 p.m.
