SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Concordia University Irvine men's tennis team eclipsed Biola 4-2 on Thursday to move in to the semifinals at the PacWest Conference Tournament.
CUI faces No. 3 seed Point Loma on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. PT for the chance to move into Saturday's PacWest Championship match. Top-seeded APU and Hawai'i Pacific battle it out on the other side of the bracket. The two losing squads on Friday will play in the third place match.
The ladies faced a tough draw with a game HPU squad, while both CUI tennis teams earned multiple All-Conference selections (See below).

Spencer Cinco and
Adam Kartzinel did their job as the top two pairings to help CUI gain the doubles point against Biola.Â
Adam Large continued his exceptional season with a win at No. 3 singles, followed closely behind by Veyhle emerging with another point at the No. 2 position.
Cinco lost a close three-set battle at the No. 1 singles spot, but
Max Mueller came through at No. 5 singles to clinch the victory for the Golden Eagles.

LADIES MOVE INTO CONSOLATION BRACKET
The women tangled with the No. 6 seed Hawaii Pacific and had a chance to flip the script after the Sharks collected the doubles point.
Senior
Alicia Da Re won 6-3, 6-1 at the no. 4 spot to give CUI its first point. Three of her teammates were knee deep in three-set battles as CUI tried to regain momentum.
Sophie Rachor at No. 1 singles,
Jessica Bear at the No. 3 position and
Kristyna Dvorakova at the No. 6 spot each won one set, but ultimately All-Conference selection Evi Roobol clinched for HPU at the top spot 6-2, 1-6, 6-2. Bear and Dvorakova's matches went unfinished.
The CUI women play Colorado Mesa Friday morning on the consolation side of the bracket and then will face either Stanislaus State or Dominican depending on all of Friday's outcomes.

CUI EARNS RESPECT FROM TENNIS PEERS
Both Concordia tennis teams were well-represented on the All-PacWest Teams. Coaches across the conference voted for which student-athletes stood out the most throughout the season.
On the men's side,
Spencer Cinco was named First Team in singles while both
Adam Large and
Felix Veyhle earned Second Team honors with their individual success.
Veyhle and
Max Mueller together were named First Team All-Conference in doubles while Cinco and
Adam Kartzinel garnered Second Team accolades.
For the women, Former ITA All-American
Sophie Rachor was named Second Team All-Conference in singles while her teammate
Bryn Johnson made Third Team All-PacWest.
That duo was also First Team All-PacWest in doubles together after a sterling showing all year.
