Golden Eagles Close Out With Senior Celebration

IRVINE, Calif. - In their final home stand, the Concordia men's volleyball team celebrated their eight seniors after rallying against Menlo College. Although it was a valiant effort by the Golden Eagles, Concordia fell to Menlo in three consecutive sets.

The score for each set was as follows: 15-25, 19-25, and 23-25.

The men's volleyball team recognized Gage Doble, Kasey Clouet, Makai Lipson, Makua Marumoto, Justin Dowdle, John Rzepniewski, Clement Osahon Jr., and Cruse Ae'a for their many contributions and time spent as Golden Eagles.

Every Golden Eagle stepped up in their own way. Sensational senior duo Makua Marumoto and Gage Doble offensively led the pack with 10 kills and 6 kills, respectively. Their high energy brought the Golden Eagles back from a drastic deficit time and time again. Ties Cornelissen also had a sneaky good performance while hitting right at .300.

Defensively, Cruse Ae'a and Troy Fleming were Concordia's liberos and switched on and off the court as needed.

Nathan Habermas lived up to the middles standard and made good on three of the five balls that came his way. Kasey Klouet stepped into the setter role and tallied 14 assists, an impressive solo block, and five digs for the night.

Connor Dell came in during the last set to shake things up. The junior opposite racked up four kills and contributed to the Golden Eagles' comeback of 22-24 in the third set.

Despite the loss, men's volleyball appears determined for their upcoming match in the MPSF Tournament on Tuesday, April 22. Concordia goes toe-to-toe with Vanguard at 7 pm in the first round of the tournament. Next stop: Malibu, California!
