MALIBU, Calif. – After the Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team came out with the first win of the tournament the Golden Eagles turned around to play the second match against No. 5 seeded Grand Canyon. This is the first time this season these two teams play against each other while being in the same conference.
CUI came out to a hot start in the first set as they took an early 10-6 lead Grand Canyon slowly came back and served tough which led to the Lopes winning the match in three sets with scores 25-19, 25-20, and 26-24.
Connor Dell and
Makua Marumoto led the Golden Eagles with seven kills each and had a combined seven digs.
Gage Doble,
Ties Cornelissen, and
Christian Galoppo each contributed with three kills a-piece. The Green and Gold had a total of eight aces which Doble and Galoppo served up two each.
Middle
Kasey Clouet was dominant up at the net going 4-for-8 with no errors which led to hitting an impressive .500.
Nathan Habermas had five kills and put up two block assists.
Setter
Colin Marks ran the offense and dished out 27 assists while scooping up six digs. Senior
Cruse Ae'a was the libero and had seven digs from the back row.
The Golden Eagles close out their 2025 season going 10-19 overall and went 3-9 in MPSF play making it to the second round in the MPSF tournament.
