IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team fought hard in their home match Wednesday night, but came up just short in a 2-1 loss to Cal Poly Pomona.
After falling behind in the first half, the Golden Eagles came out strong after the break and created multiple scoring opportunities. In the 72nd minute, Dylan Graham put CUI on the board with his first goal of the season to cut the deficit in half.
The Golden Eagles kept up the pressure the rest of the way, finishing with a 12-9 advantage in total shots and a commanding 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Despite controlling much of the second half, time ran out before CUI could find the tying goal.
CUI will look to bounce back on Saturday, September 13th, when they travel to Cal State San Bernardino for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff.
