Nevada Knowles Records 2,000th Career Assist

Team Goes 2-0 On Day Two of the Hampton Inn Nighthawk Classic

NAMPA, Idaho - CUI delivered a dominant performance at the Hampton Inn Nighthawk Classic, going 3-1 on the weekend.

CUI 3, Seattle Pacific 0 (25-18, 25-21, 26-24)

The Golden Eagles controlled the pace of the game and never looked back, staying disciplined on offense and defense. One of the biggest highlights of the game came from senior setter Nevada Knowles, who reached a major career milestone by recording her 2,000th assist. A steady presence on the court, Knowles's leadership and consistency continue to be a driving force for the Green and Gold's offense. She also added 14 digs, recording her fourth double-double of the season, and had the highest hitting percentage for the Golden Eagles at .429.

Another key contributor was freshman libero Kendyll Winn, who stepped up in a big way defensively. Winn tallied a career-high 16 digs, anchoring the back row and helping keep her team in long rallies. As a team, the Golden Eagles put together one of their strongest defensive efforts of the season, holding Seattle Pacific to a .090 hitting percentage. This win adds to their growing momentum as they continue their strong start to the 2025 season.

CUI 3, NNU 1 (25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-12)

The Green and Gold secured a 3-1 win over Northwest Nazarene while coming out sharp and setting the tone with efficient offense and control at the service line. The team racked up 12 aces, with Nevada Knowles leading the way with five. The pressure from the service line helped the Golden Eagles as their opponent was out of system a good amount of times.

Freshman outside Sofia Ajmal had a career-high of 13 kills, one of the team's best, along with Emma Wegleitner. Kayden Croy also chipped in 12 kills, showcasing the team's depth across the net. Defensively, CUI was dominant, out-digging NNU 47-29. Knowles led the way with 13, and Wegleitner was not too far behind with 10 of her own.

UP NEXT: The Green and Gold will head up to Santa Barbara to face Westmont in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:00 PM.
