Box Score 2 Redlands, Calif - In a road trip to Redlands, the Golden Eagles were triumphant in their first two games of the Inland Empire Classic. The Green and Gold faced the Gaels from Iona University scoring 16 total goals while the Gaels ended the game with 11 and faced the Tigers from Occidental College and escaped with a 14-7 final score.
CUI 16, IONA 11
In a heavy scoring game, the Golden Eagles came out with a win against the Iona GaelsCUI was strong offensively in the first half of the game, scoring four goals each in the first two periods. Junior Porter Rosenlof started the scoring early in the first period for the Golden Eagles, and freshman Carter Clenney and Senior Kai Young both tallied a goal. At the end of the first period, Rosenlof added a cherry on top goal to score his second goal and give CUI extra momentum heading into the second period!
The most recent PacWest Offensive Player of the Week Dimitrios Koritsas scored two goals and also added three assists. Kaliq Khan, Canyon Johnson, and Carter Clenney all scored two goals, in addition to Porter Rosenlof.
There were six goals scored in the third period scored by five different Golden Eagles, which definitely helped CUI seal the win. In the final period, the Golden Eagles managed to slow the pace while adding two more goals.
CUI 14, OXY 7
Game two of the day for the Golden Eagles ended in good fashion, with the Golden Eagles outsourcing their opponent 14-7. Nine different players scored, including a three-goal game for freshman Levi Riegelmann as well as one assist. Following Riegelmann, teammates Oscar Garcia Blomback, Dimitrios Koritsas, and Carter Clenney all added two goals to the final score.
On the defensive end, starting goalkeeper Pablo De Souza recorded five saves to hold the Tigers to seven goals
