IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team opened up the 2025 season at home with the Golden Eagle Classic starting on Thursday, Sep. 4. Their first two games were played Friday, Sep. 5, winning both, 3-0 and 3-1.
CUI 3, WOU 0
CUI defeated Western Oregon in straight sets after a closely contested first set, 25-21, 25-13, and 25-14.
Sophomore Emma Wegleitner recorded 10 kills on the outside along with 14 digs from the back row, and Kayden Croy contributed with nine kills. Delaney Gregg made a huge impact offensively going four-for-eight, hitting .500.
There were a couple new faces that started on the court for the Golden Eagles, including freshman Kendyll Winn and senior Nevada Knowles. Knowles led the Green and Gold with a double-double, registering 28 assists and 10 digs along with three aces. Winn got the start in the libero jersey, finishing with four assists and seven digs.
CUI 3, CSUDH 1
Game two of the day for the Golden Eagles ended in good fashion, with the Golden Eagles winning in four sets 25-14, 25-9, 21-25, and 25-16.
Emma Wegleitner and Nevada Knowles recorded another double-double. Wegleitner ended the night with 12 kills, 10 digs, and five aces, while Knowles ended with 35 assists, 10 digs, and seven kills.
Some other standout Golden Eagles include Kayden Croy and Ally Scheidle. Croy had another standout performance, finishing with 11 kills, hitting a .435. Scheidle led the team with 12 digs on the night, keeping the Green and Gold in the game.
