Box Score 2 Redlands, Calif. – The Concordia Golden Eagles battled hard on the road against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps but ultimately fell short in a high-scoring contest, dropping a 12-18 decision. Despite the result, CUI showcased a balanced offensive attack with several standout performances across the pool.
CUI 12, CMS 18
The Golden Eagles came out firing early, with senior Kai Young leading the charge by netting one goal, Freshman Hugo Wouters had an impressive outing, scoring twice and adding three steals, showing his presence on both sides of the game.
Dimitrios Koritsas proved to be a spark offensively, tallying two goals and assisting on another, while also finishing with three total points. Fellow standout Kaliq Khan delivered one of the best performances of the afternoon, scoring three goals and dishing out an assist to lead the team with four points. Carter Clenney also added two goals and was a reliable scoring option for CUI, while Chris Johnson contributed with two key assists and one steal.
Defensively, the Golden Eagles worked to slow down CMS's attack, with goalkeeper Pablo de Souza recording six saves across the full 32 minutes in the cage. Wouters and Levi Riegelmann were active on defense, combining for five steals.
CUI 9, UCSB 11
The Concordia Golden Eagles put together a gritty effort on the road against UC Santa Barbara, matching the Gauchos with an energized offensive attack and tough defensive presence throughout the game. Despite the challenge, CUI showcased a well-rounded performance with multiple players stepping up in key moments.
Freshman standout Hugo Wouters continued to impress, leading the Golden Eagles with three goals to pace the offense. He was joined by Porter Rosenlof and Kai Young, who each added a goal of their own to keep CUI within striking distance. Dimitrios Koritsas and Kaliq Khan also found the back of the cage, contributing a pair of crucial scores that helped maintain CUI's momentum through the middle quarters.
Adding depth to the attack, Levi Riegelmann and Kanoa Stoddard both capitalized on their opportunities, each finishing with a goal, while Canyon Johnson tallied an assist to round out the balanced offensive effort.
On the defensive end, CUI's effort was anchored by goalkeeper Pablo de Souza, who turned away 15 shots in the cage to post an impressive .577 save percentage. He also added a steal, disrupting UCSB's rhythm throughout the contest. Oscar Garcia Blomback and Rosenlof were relentless defensively, combining for three steals.
