IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's basketball team delivered a competitive home performance Saturday night but fell 74–64 to Point Loma in a matchup at CU Arena.
The Golden Eagles (8–6, 5–3 PacWest) battled a strong Sea Lions squad throughout the evening, staying within reach before Point Loma pulled away late behind efficient shooting in the second half.
CUI was led by MaCarhy Morris, who scored a game-high 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting while logging 39 minutes. Kaden Minter followed with 12 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, and Nicholas Corbett added 11 points and three rebounds. Marcellus Edwards chipped in eight points, while Radek Homer provided inside with five rebounds.
The Golden Eagles trailed 34–29 at halftime but continued to push in the second half, cutting into the deficit with strong guard play and solid perimeter shooting. CUI finished the night shooting 48.9% from the field and an efficient 42.9% from beyond the arc, keeping pressure on the Sea Lions into the final minutes.
Point Loma ultimately capitalized inside, scoring 50 points in the paint, to secure the road win.
Concordia will look to respond quickly as it remains home for its next game.The Golden Eagles return to CU Arena on Thursday to face Fresno Pacific, with game time scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
