Box Score Atherton, Calif- The Concordia Irvine Golden Eagles showed grit and resilience on the road Monday afternoon but came up just short in a hard-fought 75–68 loss to Menlo College at Haynes-Prim Pavilion. Despite the setback, CUI remains firmly in control of its PacWest title chase, sitting at
8-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Facing a motivated Menlo squad on its home floor, the Golden Eagles battled from start to finish and never allowed the game to get out of reach. After trailing 35–30 at the break, CUI responded with a strong second-half push, trimming the deficit to single digits multiple times behind aggressive defense and relentless rebounding. Concordia finished with 40 rebounds including 19 on the offensive glass creating valuable second-chance opportunities throughout the afternoon.
Marcellus Edwards once again led the way, scoring 20 points and attacking the rim consistently, drawing contact and converting 12-of-13 free throws. Kaden Minter added 16 points and five rebounds, while Radek Homer delivered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, anchoring the paint on both ends. MaCarhy Morris chipped in 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists while logging a team-high 38 minutes.
CUI's defense kept Menlo under pressure, forcing 17 turnovers and limiting clean looks late in the game. The Golden Eagles' effort was especially evident on the boards and in their willingness to attack the basket, finishing with 33 free-throw attempts. A late surge brought Concordia within striking distance, but Menlo was able to close out the contest at the line.
With PacWest play continuing, Concordia remains one of the conference's top contenders and will look to bounce back quickly as it continues its road stretch with championship aspirations firmly intact.
