IRVINE, Calif. –
Mia Psarras and
Elaina Ramos both scored their first career goals as Golden Eagles on Thursday to help their team secure three points against Hawaii Pacific with a 3-0 victory.
The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer squad improved to 5-1-4 overall and 2-0-1 in PacWest Conference action after the solid showing.
Psarras earned more playing time and headed in a volley from
Sloane De Torres off a corner kick in the 18th minute.
Staked with an early lead, CUI had opportunities to score again but the margin held at intermission.
The leading scorer in the PacWest was at it again as
Ashley Grubert scored off a penalty kick in the 54th minute of action. The senior now has eight goals in her ledger this season.
CUI added an insurance tally late in the second half when freshman Ramos surprised the HPU defense and went to goal. Fellow freshman
Lana Stewart was credited with the assist.
Starting goalkeeper
Christina Sidoti played most of the contest before handing duties off to
Bella Miseroy to protect the clean sheet. The pair combined for the shutout.
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a week of training before their next home match. CUI welcomes Vanguard University to Irvine next Saturday, Oct. 10 at 3:15 p.m.
