Golden Eagles Take Down FPU To Cap Off Solid Road Trip

CUI Improved to 2-0 After Topping the Sunbirds By Scoring 18 Goals For The Second Straight Day

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 20 Concordia Golden Eagles took care of business up north as they finished off a stellar road trip with an 18-12 victory over Fresno Pacific.

Roughly 24 hours after taking down UC Merced 18-10 on Friday, Dimitrios Koritsas scored three goals again for the second straight day to lead a very balanced effort by the Golden Eagles.

10 different Concordia student-athletes scored in this victory and seven Golden Eagles racked up multiple goals. Along with the three by Koritsas, this game saw Kaliq Khan, Cade Peterson, Dante Soldati Ianora, Joao Goncalves and Levi Riegelmann all score twice.

Porter Rosenlof, Caleb Luby and Canyon Johnson also found the back of the net once to help the cause.

CUI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first three minutes of action and led 6-2 at the end of the first period. A late second period charge by FPU was stalled after Goncalves scored a few seconds before intermission. CUI led 9-6 at the break.

The trio of goalies Derek Maddox, Hale Durbiano and Ethan Sutherland helped protect the Concordia lead and elevate the Green and Gold's overall record to 15-9.

Next up is a non-conference affair with fellow ranked partner UC San Diego on Saturday, Oct. 17th. Then CUI brings its 2-0 conference record to the table at Biola on Thursday, Oct 22 before hosting LMU the very next day on Friday, Oct 23 at 1 p.m. at Woollett Aquatics Center.
