NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A late surge by the Golden Eagles was almost enough to shock the Lees McRae Bobcats in Sunday's neutral contest held out in Tennessee. 

The margin was 10-7 in favor of Lees McRae for nearly six minutes of game time until the Golden Eagles fought their way back in the final minutes.

Matt Carresi scored an unassisted goal with a man up and then Carson Schultz followed suit with a score to help Concordia draw within 10-9 with under three minutes to play.  But Lees-McRae was able to get one more insurance goal and fend off the Green and Gold down the stretch. The final score was 11-9.

Carresi finished with four points including three assists and Gabe Skegin-Skipes scored twice to lead the CUI offense. Jeremy Barnes also had three points with a goal and a pair of assists.

The Golden Eagles will have another road trip later this month, when the team heads to Florida for three games. That East Coast trip begins with a date in Daytona Beach with Embry-Riddle on Monday, Feb. 23 before visits to nationally-ranked Tampa and Florida Tech.

CUI will be back at home again on Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m. PT against new RMAC opponent Northwest Nazarene.
