Tatro Time in Sacramento!

CUI Splits the day with Jessup

Sacramento, Calif - The Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles earned a split in a  doubleheader against the Jessup University Warriors at American River College on Saturday, powering past Jessup 8-4 in game one before falling just short in a tightly contested 3-2 finish in game two. Concordia's offense broke out early in the opener, while strong pitching kept the Golden Eagles within striking distance throughout the nightcap.

CUI 8, JESSUP 4
Concordia set the tone immediately in game one with a five-run first inning. Caitlynn Campbell delivered a key two-RBI single that was aided by a Jessup fielding error, while Kailani Tatro capped the rally with a two-run home run to left field. Tatro stayed hot at the plate, launching her second homer of the game in the fourth inning to extend the Golden Eagles' lead. Audrey Robles later added insurance in the seventh with a two-RBI double, helping secure the 8-4 victory.

Jessica Im led the offense with a three-hit performance and scored twice, while Tatro finished with two home runs and three RBIs. Campbell added two hits and two RBIs, and Alyssa Struthers chipped in two hits as Concordia totaled 12 hits as a team. In the circle, Jayden Nishi earned the win after working three innings, with Kira Morris, Kacie Gossett, and Paetynn Snobar combining in relief to close out the game.

CUI 2, JESSUP 3

Game two turned into a pitching duel despite limited offensive production. Gossett delivered a strong performance for Concordia, allowing just three hits while striking out nine across six innings. Jessup capitalized on a solo home run in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the third to take a 3-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles continued to battle and mounted a late rally in the seventh inning. Riley Bigley drove in Concordia's first run with an RBI single, and Kaliya Yco followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to one. Concordia brought the tying run to the plate, but Jessup held on to secure the 3-2 win.

Despite the split, the Golden Eagles showed consistent offensive depth and strong pitching throughout the doubleheader. Concordia's explosive start in game one and resilient late push in game two highlight the team's momentum as they continue their early-season schedule.
