Series Sweep Versus the Sharks

Irvine, Calif - The Concordia Irvine softball team continued its dominant weekend against Hawai'i Pacific, securing an 8–0 victory on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Softball Stadium. 

CUI 8, HPU 0

Concordia wasted no time getting on the board, erupting for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jessica Im started the rally with a leadoff triple and scored on a Kaliya Yco double to left-center field. Morgan Kneubuhler followed with an RBI single to bring home Yco before the Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure with bases loaded. Alyssa Struthers drew an RBI walk, and Noelani Ching added another run with a groundout to give CUI an early 4–0 lead.

The Golden Eagles kept the momentum going in the second inning as Kneubuhler delivered the biggest swing of the afternoon. The catcher launched a two-run home run to extend Concordia's lead to 6–0 while continuing her standout weekend at the plate.

Concordia added another run in the fourth inning when Veronica Moore lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Audrey Robles to score and push the lead to seven. The Golden Eagles capped the scoring in the sixth inning when Robles crossed the plate on a passed ball, giving CUI an 8–0 advantage.

While the offense produced throughout the game, Nishi dominated in the circle. The left-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out nine. She consistently overpowered the Hawai'i Pacific lineup and kept the Sharks off balance throughout her outing.

Payton Dedo closed out the final inning in relief, helping secure the shutout and complete the victory.

The Golden Eagles finished with 12 hits on the afternoon, led by Kneubuhler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Yco added two hits and an RBI, while Im recorded two hits and scored a run. Struthers, Ching, and Caitlynn Campbell also contributed hits as Concordia's lineup continued its strong offensive stretch.

CUI 8, HPU 3

The Concordia Irvine softball team closed out a dominant weekend and sweeping the series against the Sharks with an 8–3 victory over Hawai'i Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Golden Eagles Stadium, completing a strong series performance in front of the home crowd.

Despite an early deficit, the Golden Eagles quickly responded and controlled the game the rest of the way, improving to 26–10 on the season.

Hawai'i Pacific struck first in the opening inning with a two-run home run, but Concordia wasted little time answering. In the bottom of the first, Morgan Kneubuhler delivered an RBI single to score Jessica Im before Caitlynn Campbell followed with another RBI single that brought home Audrey Robles to even the score at 2–2.

The Golden Eagles seized momentum in the second inning with a four-run surge. Jessica Im drove in the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice, and Kneubuhler came through again with the biggest hit of the frame, ripping a three-run double to left field that plated Robles, Kaliya Yco, and Im to extend the lead to 6–2.

Concordia continued to apply pressure in the third inning as Robles lined an RBI double to right-center field, allowing Im to score and push the advantage to five runs.

Hawai'i Pacific added a run in the sixth, but the Golden Eagles quickly answered. Maddie JeanBlanc delivered an RBI single to center field to bring home Kaitlin Murphy and give Concordia its final run of the game.

CUI's offense finished with 12 hits, led by Kneubuhler, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs to cap an outstanding series at the plate. Im scored three runs, while JeanBlanc recorded two hits and an RBI. Yco, Campbell, Robles, and Riley Bigley also contributed hits as the Golden Eagles consistently pressured the Sharks' pitching staff.

In the circle, Kailey Estes earned the win after tossing five strong innings, allowing just two runs while limiting Hawai'i Pacific to three hits. Kailani Tatro and Paetynn Snobar combined in relief to close out the game and secure the victory.

With the win, Concordia capped off an impressive series against Hawai'i Pacific, powered by timely hitting, strong pitching, and consistent offensive production throughout the weekend.
