Hueston With a Hat Trick!

Merced, Calif – The Concordia University Irvine women's water polo team delivered a dominant performance on Friday evening, defeating UC Merced 12–5 on the road.

The Golden Eagles set the tone early with a commanding first quarter, erupting for five goals to take control of the match. Mia Hueston led the charge with a standout performance, scoring three goals, including a penalty conversion to cap off the opening period.

Alexa De Villiers added a strong offensive showing with multiple goals, while Kimorah Wong also found the back of the net during the early surge. Concordia carried that momentum into the second quarter, extending its lead behind additional goals from Hueston and De Villiers to take a 7–2 advantage into halftime.

CUI continued to pull away in the third period, shutting out UC Merced while adding four more goals. Sierrah Ferguson, Sofia Smith, Madison Emerson, and Kailah Peery each contributed to the scoring run, showcasing the Golden Eagles' depth and balance.

Cassady Woolley added the final goal for Concordia in the fourth, while the defense held firm despite a late push from the Bobcats.

Overall, the Golden Eagles controlled the match on both ends, outshooting UC Merced 35–24 and doubling them in steals (12–6). Concordia also totaled eight assists, highlighting strong ball movement throughout the contest.

With the victory, CUI put together a complete team performance, using a fast start and consistent pressure to secure a convincing road win.
