San Diego, Calif - The Concordia University Irvine men's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Friday afternoon after falling to Westmont College, 82–73, in the PacWest Conference semifinal at Golden Gym in San Diego.
Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles battled throughout the contest and showed resilience after a slow start, cutting into the deficit in the second half behind strong perimeter shooting and balanced scoring.
Westmont opened the game with an efficient first half offensively, shooting 46.7 percent from the field to take a 34–27 lead into the break. Concordia struggled to find rhythm early, shooting just 28.6 percent in the opening 20 minutes, but stayed within striking distance thanks to timely three-point shooting.
San Diego, Calif - The Golden Eagles responded with a much stronger second half, shooting nearly 53 percent from the floor and knocking down seven three-pointers. Concordia trimmed the deficit multiple times as both teams traded momentum, with the lead changing hands 11 times throughout the game. However, Westmont's ability to convert at the free-throw line down the stretch — going 13-for-14 in the second half — helped the Warriors maintain control.
Junior Kaden Minter led Concordia with 20 points, knocking down six three-pointers while also pulling down six rebounds in 35 minutes of action. MaCarhy Morris added 15 points and eight rebounds while distributing a team-high seven assists, continuing his strong all-around play for the Golden Eagles.
Marcellus Edwards provided an efficient scoring performance, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers. Off the bench, Jackson Tucker gave Concordia a spark with 11 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc.
Concordia finished the game shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three-point range while also recording 16 assists as a team. The Golden Eagles also found success on second-chance opportunities, scoring 14 points off offensive rebounds.
With the semifinal loss, Concordia closes the 2025–26 season with a 16–14 overall record and a 12–10 mark in PacWest play. The Golden Eagles showed resilience throughout the year, battling through conference play and earning a spot in the PacWest Semifinals. From clutch performances to gritty defensive efforts, Concordia consistently competed with heart and determination, setting a strong foundation as the program looks ahead to the future.
